Two men who left Antigua for Barbuda over 24 hours ago have turned up safe. A spokesperson for the coast guard confirmed tonight that they have arrived at the River Wharfe in Barbuda at about 8 pm.
The men, who are remaining unnamed for now, left Marina Bay on Antigua’s northwest coast between 9am and 10am. That means, at the latest and even with the recent choppy sea conditions, they should have been in Barbuda by 2pm yesterday.
The trip, depending on conditions and in the size of the boat they’re on, takes between 2 and 4 hours.
ABSAR and the coast guard are said to have been involved with the search and had put out pan-pan requests, urgent marine calls for assistance.
The purpose of the trip is still unclear.
